About this product

'When there's fighting to be done, there's fighting to be done. You can't be unfaithful to yourself. You can't fool yourself either. We stood for it. We did what we had to do, what we could do. No more and no less Janny Brandes-Brill grinder

During the Second World War, the two Jewish sisters Janny and Lien Brilleslijper were active in the resistance movement in Amsterdam and The Hague. When the net begins to close around them, they have to go into hiding. They ended up in 't Hooge Nest, a villa hidden in the woods of 't Gooi. Under their leadership the house will soon grow into one of the largest hiding places in the Netherlands
While the last Jews in the country are being hunted down, the life of a few dozen people in hiding goes on as well as it can, right under the nsb's nose and Nazi leaders. When the end of the war is in sight the Nest is betrayed and the Brilleslijper family ends up on the last transport to Auschwitz, together with the Frank family.

't Hooge Nest is a story of courage, betrayal and humanity in barbaric times, and brings an unprecedented history powerfully to life.
